The Call for Proposals for SER2027, the 12th World Conference on Ecological Restoration, is now open. The SER2027 Program Committee is inviting proposals for symposia and training courses to be presented at the conference, to be held 30 August through 3 September 2027 in Lisbon, Portugal.
This call is for symposia and training courses only, not individual presentations. The Call for Abstracts, covering oral presentations, lightning talks, and posters, will open in December 2026.

All proposals must be submitted through the online form available on the Call for Proposals page. Reviews will be conducted on a rolling basis, so early submissions are encouraged.
Please note: all SER2027 presentations will be in person. Virtual presenters will not be accommodated.
What We’re Looking For
Proposals may address any aspect of ecological restoration research, practice, or policy, and should align with one of the conference’s nine thematic series:

- Freshwaters in Motion
- Seascapes in Motion
- Bridging through Knowledge: from Science to Practice
- Bridging through Management: from Knowledge to Outcomes
- Bridging through Policy, Partnerships, and Governance
- Bridging through Finance
- Bridging through Socioeconomic Impact
- Bridging through Culture, Art, and Inspiration
We especially encourage proposals connected to the conference theme, Restoration in Motion: Bridging Land, Water and People, and welcome submissions from practitioners as well as researchers.
Symposia and Training Courses
Symposia consist of four to six presentations on a shared topic, run for 90 or 120 minutes, and take place alongside regular sessions during the main conference days, 31 August through 3 September 2027.
Training courses focus on practical skills and professional development. They are held before the conference, on Saturday 28 August and Sunday 29 August 2027, and typically run four hours or longer.
