The 12th World Conference on Ecological Restoration (SER2027) will be held in person on 30 August – 3 September 2027 in Lisbon, Portugal. SER’s World Conference is an exciting and inspiring biennial gathering of global experts in restoration, making SER2027 the premier event for those interested in being active members of the global restoration community.

Restoration in Motion: Bridging Land, Water, and People

The 12th World Conference on Ecological Restoration (SER2027) will explore integrated approaches to ecological restoration across landscapes, seascapes, and communities. The conference theme reflects both the natural continuum that restoration work must follow, from mountain catchments to coastal waters and deep seas, and the human systems, knowledge, policy, finance, and culture, that determine whether restoration succeeds and endures.

Who Attends SER World Conferences?

Delegates represent the scientific, technical, policy, governmental, financial and socio-cultural sectors. They are researchers and practitioners of restoration working in nearly all biomes and continents. Conference delegates are passionate about discussing and debating big picture issues and broad trends, as well as specific restoration tools, techniques, research, and policies. SER2027 will equip participants with the resources, tools, and knowledge to turn global commitments into tangible ecological and societal benefits.

Phanor Montoya-MayaFounder of Corales de Paz

Dr Phanor H Montoya Maya is a coral reef restoration expert whose field experience began in Seychelles with the Reef Rescues project. He is the founder and former CEO of Corales de Paz, a Colombian organization focused on community-based reef restoration, and currently serves as the Restoration Program Manager at the Coral Restoration Foundation in Florida, USA. Phanor is a Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner (CERP) accredited by the Society for Ecological Restoration. He specializes in project design and management, grant writing, and strategic consulting to improve restoration outcomes. His work integrates cutting-edge science with practical, field-tested methodologies, ensuring that coral reef interventions are ecologically meaningful, sustainable, and resilient. Committed to advancing the field, he aligns all restoration efforts with globally recognized principles of ecological restoration, emphasizing ecological integrity, long-term sustainability, and community engagement. Phanor's leadership continues to shape and elevate coral reef restoration practice across the globe.
