SER2027, the 12th World Conference on Ecological Restoration, will meet in Lisbon, Portugal at the intersection of land, water, and people from 30 August to 3 September 2027.
Set across the Tagus River and seven hills, and overlooking the Atlantic, Lisbon pairs more than a thousand years of history, from Moorish rule to the golden age of Portugal’s overseas connections, with the largest estuary in Western Europe. The Tagus Estuary Natural Reserve, part of the Natura 2000 network, is a vital wetland hosting some 120,000 waterfowl during migration. It is a fitting setting for the conference theme: Restoration in Motion: Bridging Land, Water, and People.
Travelling to Lisbon
Lisbon is just a short flight away, one to three hours from most European cities and five to eight hours from North America. The Humberto Delgado Airport is served by all major airlines and with daily nonstop connections to all major European cities as well as the US, South America, Africa, Middle East and Asia. The Airport is located 12 km (approximately 15 minutes) from the conference venue: Centro de Congressos de Lisboa (CCL), the Lisbon Congress Center.

From the conference venue, delegates can take in the Tagus riverfront, explore the restaurants, shops, and creative spaces of the nearby LX Factory, or head toward Belém to discover some of Lisbon’s most iconic landmarks, including the MAAT (Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology), Jerónimos Monastery, the Monument to the Discoveries, and Belém Tower. And no visit to Belém is complete without trying the famous pastéis de Belém.
