About The Conference

The 12th World Conference on Ecological Restoration (SER2027) will be held in person on 30 August – 3 September 2027 in Lisbon, Portugal. SER’s World Conference is an exciting and inspiring biennial gathering of global experts in restoration, making SER2027 the premier event for those interested in being active members of the global restoration community. 

SER2027 will welcome more than 1,500 researchers, practitioners, policymakers, Indigenous leaders, and other restoration professionals from around the world under the theme:

"Restoration in Motion: Bridging Land, Water, and People"

SER2025 truly embodied ‘Moving from Commitment to Action in Ecological Restoration.’ Its open and collaborative atmosphere made it easy to exchange ideas across disciplines & geographies, reminding us that restoration is not only a science but a collective movement. Who Attends SER World Conferences?

Delegates represent the scientific, technical, policy, governmental, financial and socio-cultural sectors. They are researchers and practitioners of restoration working in nearly all biomes and continents. Phanor Montoya-MayaFounder of Corales de Paz

Dr Phanor H Montoya Maya is a coral reef restoration expert whose field experience began in Seychelles with the Reef Rescues project. He is the founder and former CEO of Corales de Paz, a Colombian organization focused on community-based reef restoration, and currently serves as the Restoration Program Manager at the Coral Restoration Foundation in Florida, USA. Phanor is a Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner (CERP) accredited by the Society for Ecological Restoration. He specializes in project design and management, grant writing, and strategic consulting to improve restoration outcomes. His work integrates cutting-edge science with practical, field-tested methodologies, ensuring that coral reef interventions are ecologically meaningful, sustainable, and resilient. Committed to advancing the field, he aligns all restoration efforts with globally recognized principles of ecological restoration, emphasizing ecological integrity, long-term sustainability, and community engagement. Phanor's leadership continues to shape and elevate coral reef restoration practice across the globe.
